    Why this role exists

We have model evidence, production use, public-record infrastructure, and signs of external technical evaluation. We need an owner who can turn agency and prime-contractor problems into scoped evaluations, procurement-ready pilots, accepted deliverables, and larger contracts.

    What you will own

    • Identify high-value problems with planning agencies, regional councils, state transportation and economic offices, utilities, infrastructure firms, and prime contractors.
    • Lead executive and practitioner discovery sessions and translate needs into technical and commercial requirements.
    • Design paid validation pilots with measurable acceptance criteria, delivery milestones, data requirements, and decision value.
    • Coordinate product configuration, data integration, validation, training, and customer adoption with engineering and model owners.
    • Own the customer relationship from initial qualification through pilot acceptance and expansion.
    • Navigate public procurement, contract vehicles, RFI and RFP processes, security reviews, and prime-assisted subcontracting.
    • Build business cases and outcome measures that distinguish technical performance from customer value.
    • Maintain accurate opportunity stages, risks, decisions, and next actions.
    • Convert recurring customer needs into product and model priorities.
    • Develop reusable pilot scopes, implementation playbooks, proposal material, and procurement checklists.

    FIRST 90 DAYS

    Establish the foundation

    • Define the initial agency and prime-contractor account set with qualification standards.
    • Complete structured discovery with a small number of qualified organizations.
    • Produce one standard validation-pilot package with scope, pricing, acceptance criteria, and procurement options.
    • Establish clear ownership across discovery, technical validation, contracting, delivery, and acceptance.
    • Advance at least one qualified opportunity to a written pilot scope or equivalent formal evaluation step.

    6 TO 12 MONTHS

    Create durable proof

    • Three paid validation pilots are signed and launched.
    • Pilot outcomes are measured against agreed technical and operational criteria.
    • At least two pilots have a credible expansion or annual-contract path.
    • One prime contractor or implementation partner can repeat the commercial and delivery pattern.
    • Product priorities reflect verified agency needs rather than generic market assumptions.

    What we are looking for

    • Seven or more years in public-sector software, infrastructure consulting, planning technology, government data, govtech, or an adjacent technical market.
    • Direct experience shaping, selling, implementing, or expanding complex software or data engagements with public agencies.
    • Working knowledge of procurement stages, contract vehicles, public budgets, and multi-stakeholder decisions.
    • Ability to lead executive discovery while working credibly with analysts, engineers, planners, and procurement staff.
    • Strong project ownership, written communication, negotiation, and commercial judgment.
    • Technical fluency sufficient to scope data integration, evaluation, security, and deployment requirements.

    Helpful, not required

    • Regional planning, transportation, land use, economic forecasting, utilities, infrastructure, or public finance.
    • Prime-contractor teaming and subcontracting.
    • SQL, Python, APIs, data models, or quantitative model evaluation.
    • Proposal writing, capture management, security questionnaires, and public-sector contracting.
    Role boundary

This is not a generic SDR, lobbying, introductions-only, or ordinary customer-success position. You must discover the problem, shape the technical evaluation, navigate procurement, manage deployment, and secure measurable customer value.

    Compensation and working terms

$250,000 target base salary, 20% target variable compensation, and a 0.50% target equity grant for the full-time version. A fractional start would use a separately scoped cash engagement with concrete deliverables.

New York City is preferred. We will consider exceptional candidates elsewhere in the United States, with travel for customer work.
